Israel to invade Gaza city

1. The Israeli cabinet has given approval to plans, tabled by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to invade and annex Gaza city, in the north of the Palestinian region.

 2. As revealed by The Journal Investigates this morning, a Fine Gael councillor – who recently served as the Mayor of South Dublin – is one of the owners of a recruitment company that has charged foreign nurses thousands of euro in “agency fees” to come and work in Irish nursing homes.

3. Niall O’Keeffe of the Irish Red Cross writes, 80 years after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the world still faces threats from nuclear weapons. He says we cannot go backwards and must learn the lessons of the past.

€2.5m ‘wasted’ 

4. There is outrage over a plan to partially demolish a Cork housing estate, which cost €2.5m of public money. One councillor has said the project was a complete waste.
