Drone flew close to Aer Lingus plane in Paris

The airline said the incident “was reported to the relevant authorities”.

AER LINGUS HAS confirmed that a drone flew close to one of its planes in Paris yesterday.

Flight EI 526 was approaching Charles de Gaulle airport when the cockpit crew saw the drone.

The airline said the incident “was reported to the relevant authorities”.

A British Airways plane is reported to have hit a drone before landing safely at Heathrow Airport in London on Sunday. Police and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are investigating.

The Evening Standard reports that British Transport Minister Robert Goodwill has cautioned against overreacting to the incident and calls for the government to tighten legislation on the use of drones.

“There was no actual damage to the plane and there’s indeed some speculation that it may have even been a plastic bag or something,” he said.

The pilot of an Air France plane was forced to make an emergency manoeuvre to avoid a drone in February.
