Staff threatened with gun in supermarket robbery

Gardaí have arrested a 32-year-old man.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man after an armed robbery at a supermarket in Dunboyne, Co Meath.

At around 6.20pm this evening an armed man threatened staff and demanded money. He left in a black car with a sum of cash and headed towards Summerhill.

A short while later a man was stopped by gardai. A firearm and cash were recovered in the car and a 32-year-old was arrested.

Gardaí say the firearm will be examined later by Garda Ballistics section, Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the Gardai in Ashbourne on 01 8010600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
