23-year-old arrested over stabbing of man and son at their home

The victims suffered minor stab wounds when they found a man trying to break into a car outside their home and confronted him.

A 23-YEAR-old man has been arrested in Kerry over the stabbing of a man and his 17-year-old son during a home invasion.

Yesterday gardaĆ­ said the two victims sustained non-life threatening injuries after they are believed to have found an intruder trying to break into a car outside their home in Woodbrook Lawn in Kerry.

They said an unknown man entered the grounds of the house and interfered with a car parked in the driveway. He then walked around to the back of the house and was confronted by the home owner and his son. An altercation occurred resulting in the home owner and his son receiving minor stab wounds.

The assailant fled but gardaĆ­ provided a description of him and they have confirmed this morning that a 23-year-old man was arrested in Tralee later in the day.

He is being detained at Tralee Garda Station.
