TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested after cannabis herb was found during a garda search of a car.
The man and woman were arrested and a quantity of cannabis herb was seized following a stop-and-search of a vehicle in Ballymote yesterday evening.
Gardaí stopped a car on the N4, Castlebaldwin, Ballymote, Co Sligo.
When they searched the car, they recovered 4kg of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €80,000, subject to analysis.
The two occupants of the car were a man in his mid 30s and a woman in her mid 20s. They were arrested at the scene.
The duo are currently detained at Ballymote Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and can be detained for up to seven days.
