Emotional Chris Evans confirms pilot died in air display crash

A PILOT HAS died in a crash that took place during an air display at a car festival in Cheshire.
The incident took place at the CarFest motoring event at Oulton Park.

Police and emergency services attended the scene.
TV presenter Chris Evans runs the festival. He tweeted that a “serious air incident” has taken place.
In an emotional interview with Sky News, he later confirmed the pilot had died and described the incident as “a tragic accident”.
Evans said the man’s family has been informed. He was later named as Kevin Whyman. The Royal Aid Force-trained pilot leaves a wife and a daughter.
Cheshire Police said there are no reports of any other injuries. BBC producer Justin Bones, who was on the scene, said two planes performed a low-level, close-proximity pass just before the crash.
The event will continue as planned, following the advice of police.
