Great heights: 9 impressive shots of the tallest buildings in Ireland
There’s quite a few outside Dublin…
WHILE IRELAND IS by no means renowned for its skyscrapers, the number of soaring structures across the country is increasing year-on-year.
The 2020 completion of The Exo Building in the Point Square will make it Dublin’s tallest office block at 239ft, while plans for a 40-storey skyscraper in Cork were proposed last year.
From Cork to Belfast, we’ve rounded up nine photos of some of the tallest buildings in Ireland that you might not be aware of…
1. Obel Tower, Belfast
Soaring to 279ft, Belfast’s Obel Tower has 27 floors and is currently used as residential accommodation.
2. The Elysian, Co Cork
Rising to 266ft, The Elysian boasts views of Cork city.
3. Google HQ, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 4
Tech giant Google’s European HQ spans an impressive 220ft.
4. Millennium Tower, Dublin 1
Also in the Dublin docklands is the 207ft-high Millennium Tower.
5. Liberty Hall, Eden Quay, Dublin 1
Considered an eyesore by some, Liberty Hall reaches 195ft.
6. Grand Central Hotel, Belfast
Formerly Windsor House, this 260ft-tall building re-opened as Grand Central Hotel last summer.
7. County Hall, Cork
Cork County Hall spans 17 storeys and 220ft.
8. One George’s Quay Plaza, Dublin
One of Dublin city’s most iconic office blocks, One George’s Quay Plaza reaches 194ft at its highest point.
9. Divis Tower, Belfast
The once-notorious Divis Tower tops 200ft.
