Nineteen-year-old dies after being hit by a van while cycling in Lucan, Co Dublin this morning

The young man was treated at the scene and later pronounced dead at Tallaght Hospital.

A NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD MAN has died after being hit by a van while cycling in Lucan, Co Dublin this morning. 

The young man was struck by the vehicle at the junction of Griffeen Avenue, the Grange Castle Road and Balgaddy Road at around 7:30am, gardaí said. 

He received treatment at the scene before being brought by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. 

No other injuries were reported, gardaí said. 

Forensic tests are being carried out at the scene and local diversions were put in place this morning. 

“The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination,” a statement said. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
