2. Planning is continuing  for the visit by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Ireland next week, but recent developments mean the government does not know if it will actually go ahead

Rent hikes 

3. Dublin City Council has narrowly voted to pass rent increases for council and HAP tenants following a heated meeting on the issue where 31 councillors voted to pass the increase and 30 voted against it.

Russia strikes Ukraine

4. Russia rained missiles and drones overnight on Kyiv, killing six people, Ukrainian authorities said.

5. Every day, 137 women and girls are killed by intimate partners or family members internationally – one death every 10 minutes, according to the United Nations (UN) who released their annual femicide report today.

Name change

7. Antrim Council has agreed to start the process to change the name of a street which was named after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

8. Three Israeli generals have been sacked and disciplinary action has been taken against several senior officers over their failure to prevent the Hamas-led attack on the country in October 2023. 

Rustling

9. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after 18 cattle were stolen from a farm in Skibbereen, Co Cork.
