THE FUNERAL OF a young boy who was killed in a petrol bomb attack at a house in Castleview Park, Edenderry, is to take place today.

Tadgh Farrell, who was just four-years-old, was killed in the resulting fire alongside his grand aunt, 60-year-old Mary Holt on Saturday, 6 January.

The funeral mass takes place at midday in St Mary’s Church in Edenderry. Tadgh will then be laid to rest in St Mary’s cemetery.

The mass will be said by Parish Priest Father Gregory Corcoran.

Tadgh is survived by his mother Shannon, his father Aaron, his sisters Ella Brooke, Heide Lee and Nevaeh, his grandmothers Karen and Pauline, and other relatives.

In his death notice his family said that his sudden passing “has left his family and friends heartbroken”.

Hundreds of people gathered in Edenderry at the Derry Rovers pitch grounds to pay tribute to Tadgh and Mary on Wednesday.

They walked four laps of the pitch to mark each year of his short life.

Gardaí are carrying out a murder investigation, and they are appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward.

On Tuesday CCTV footage was released by gardaí which showed a petrol bomb being launched at the property that Tadgh and his grand aunt Mary were inside. Shortly beforehand two people are seen running away from the house.

So far there have been no arrests.

Tadgh’s grandmother Pauline is being treated in hospital for serious burns.

Mary Holt is to be laid to rest over the weekend.
