There will be rain overnight tonight that will gradually ease.

THE WEATHER IS set to turn cold and wet this weekend, as a Status Yellow rain warning remains in effect in Cork and Waterford. 

Met Éireann said today will be cloudy, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the south and west that will gradually spread north-eastwards and turn heavy at times.

Areas in the northeast will remain dry and sunny for much of the day, though.

The highest temperatures today will be between 14 and 18 degrees on average, but it will be a few degrees cooler in the south-west.

There will be rain overnight tonight that will gradually ease, the forecaster said. Lowest temperatures will be between 8 and 11 degrees with mist and fog patches forming.

Met Éireann said tomorrow will see “a mix of cloud, scattered showers and some sunny spells”.

Showers are expected to turn heavy at times, with the most frequent being in parts of the west through the afternoon.

Highest temperatures are expected to range from 14 to 18 degrees.

Looking further ahead, Saturday and Sunday are expected to be cloudy and the temperature will drop down to between 12 and 15 degrees during the day.

The bank holiday Monday will be cooler again, with highest temperatures expected to be between 10 and 14 degrees, and will see some patchy rain and drizzle.
