THE AUDI R8 V10 plus looks like a supercar and it sure does perform like a supercar, too.
Each R8 is built almost exclusively by hand – from the welding of the body shell to the completion of assembly, small, highly qualified teams give the R8 its unique shape.
Check out those split ‘sideblades’ finished in contrasting metallic black, that super wide rear, those 20-inch 10-spoke forged alloys, the detailed but not fussy front grille and retractable rear spoiler. It has what you would call presence. It is made from a combination of aluminium and carbon fibre and weighs just 1,595kg.
This model is powered by a mid-mounted 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 petrol engine mated to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, which drives power to all four wheels.
And that power is mighty; max power of 610hp doesn’t arrive until 8,250rpm and its 560Nm of torque peaks at 6,500rpm. This car has pace. It is quick off the mark thanks in part to its quattro four-wheel drive system and goes from 0-100km/h in a rapid 3.2 seconds and onto a top speed of 330km/h.
The interior features Audi’s wonderful Virtual Cockpit and is finished in top quality materials to a very high standard. The three-spoke, flat-bottomed, multi-functional leather steering wheel is slim with everything you need at your fingertip. The rest of the switches and buttons are laid out well and the cabin feels sleek and sporty.
The electronically adjusted sports seats in this car are covered in Nappa leather upholstery in ‘Express red’ as are the kneepads, upper part of centre console including armrest, door armrests, door pull handles and door trim inserts.
The standard equipment on this car is very generous, including LED headlamps, high-beam assist and LED rear lights with dynamic rear indicators. It has a heat-insulating, green tinted, windscreen made of laminated glass. The seats are heated and the passenger seat has an ISOFIX anchor for a child seat. It features MMI navigation plus with MMI touch. All the connectivity interfaces you could want, cruise control and parking system plus for the front and rear.
This car also features a Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System and reversing camera.
