THE BMW M2 is the most anticipated BMW in years. It shares components with its big brother the M4, yet is a much more forgiving car to drive – making it perfect for Irish roads and so much fun in the wet Irish weather.
This motor is capable, fun, and fast and will make anyone behind its wheel look like a professional driver. In fact it is a real driver’s car – you can select different drive modes for different requirements.
There is Comfort mode for cross-country jaunts, Sport mode for the school run (why not?) and Sport+ for when you feel like putting your driving skills to the test.
The styling sees traditional M touches like the quad exhausts, the deep set bumper with Air Curtains and the gorgeous 19-inch forged alloy wheels, which properly fill the flared arches.
Those very wheel arches give the car a muscular, squat and aggressive stance that looks good, especially in this eye-catching Long Beach Blue metallic.
The interior is finished in black Dakota leather with blue stitching and carbon fibre trim. The front sports seats are heated and there is a multi-function control steering wheel.
The cabin also gets an extended light and storage package, automatic air-con, 12V power sockets, Bluetooth hands-free with USB audio interface, BMW Professional radio with single CD player, DAB digital radio and BMW Online Services.
Safety equipment and driver’s aids include rear Park Distance Control (PDC), tyre pressure monitoring, Xenon headlights, cruise control with brake function, auto drive away locking, and multiple airbags.
The M2 Coupe is armed with a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels.
The engine produces 370hp with maximum torque of 465Nm. It does the 0-100km/h dash in 4.5 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 250km/h.
This 2016 BMW M2 Coupe falls into tax band F, which is €1,200 a year. It comes with just 10km on the clock and a €81,827 price tag.
