A BUILDING ON Dublin city’s Parliament Street has been cordoned off because of cracks that appeared in its facade this week.
Officials from Dublin Fire Brigade and the Dangerous Buildings Section of Dublin City Council visited the site yesterday evening.
The area around the outside of the building was initially cordoned off with tape yesterday. Mobile barriers were later installed – leaving space for pedestrians and cyclists to get by on the eastern side of the street.
Neighbouring businesses, including DiFontaines Pizza, have continued to trade.
The restaurant at the location, Ciao Bella Roma, has been closed since the first Covid lockdown in March 2020. More recently, part of the upstairs floors in the complex have been rented out as accommodation.
Local Fine Gael councillor Danny Byrne told The Journal he found the state of the building concerning, but that Dublin City Council had told him it has been deemed safe.
The council also told him work had been going on in the building and that scaffolding will be erected over the weekend.
