Here are all the important dates you need to know for your CAO application

There are several important dates coming up.

MAKING THE JUMP from secondary education to third-level is an important milestone for many students across Ireland.

One of the most important things to stay on top of throughout the process is to be aware of all the most important dates when it comes to applying for your preferred courses through the Central Applications Office (CAO).

Filling out your CAO form is a rite of passage, and it can sometimes feel like a very daunting task. However, as long as you keep yourself aware of all the key dates, you can manage your application the way you want and set yourself up for success come August. Below is a comprehensive list of all the application deadlines you need to be aware of over the coming months.

Sunday 1st February, 5pm

This is the closing date for the initial CAO application, meaning that you need to have your CAO form submitted by 5pm on Sunday, 1 February. There is a €50 charge accruing to the submission of your CAO form.

Tuesday, 5th May

This is the second major date to be keeping an eye out for, in case you happen to have a change of heart as to the courses on your CAO form, or the order of preference. There is no fee accruing to the change of mind facility.

Wednesday, 1st July, 5pm

Wednesday, 1st July is your final opportunity to update your CAO submission and ensure that you’ve got all of your courses in the order you want. Submissions will close at 5pm that Monday, and this will be the last chance you have to make sure your courses line up with your hopes for the coming academic year.
