Cannabis, cocaine, vapes and cash totalling €740,000 seized in separate garda raids

The drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED cash, vapes and drugs worth over €700,000 in separate raids in Carlow and Limerick.

As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in the region, gardaí searched a house in Hacketstown, Co Carlow on 30 December. 

During the search, Carlow Drugs Unit seized suspected cannabis with a street value of €136,000, cocaine with a value of €38,000, Valium tablets with a value of €2,000, vapes and vape liquid valued at €39,000 and €21,750 in cash.

The seizure was part of Operation Tara, which aims to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene.

He is being detained at a garda station in the eastern region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

A spokesperson said the seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.

Separately, gardaí in Limerick are investigating the discovery of suspected cannabis herb near Newcastle West on 30 December. 

Members of the Divisional Drugs Unit based at Henry Street Garda Station seized the drugs at a residential property at Carrigkerry.

The drugs, which have an estimated street value of €540,000, will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Gardaí said no arrests have been made but investigations are ongoing.
