Connolly received 914,143 first-preference votes and will be inaugurated next month.
CATHERINE CONNOLLY HAS officially been elected as the 10th Uachtarán na hÉireann.
She will be inaugurated next month after a landslide win in yesterday’s election.
Connolly received 914,143 first-preference votes to Heather Humphreys’ 424,987 and Jim Gavin’s 103,568. A total of 213,738 ballots were spoiled.
Speaking after her victory, Connolly promised to be a president for those who voted for her and those who didn’t.
So, that being said: Did you expect her to win the election?
