London rail station shut following reports man on tracks was carrying a bomb

The man has since been arrested.

A MAN HAS been arrested after claiming to have a bomb at a major London rail station.

British Transport Police earlier stated that the man had accessed the tracks at the central London station and claimed he was carrying an explosive device.

The incident happened just after 6.30am this morning.

The station was evacuated as a precautionary measure, with all trains instructed to pass it without stopping.

The man has since been apprehended, with no injuries reported.

“Met police officers assisted the British Transport Police this morning, Friday 22 June at 6.34am following a report of a man acting suspiciously,” a Met spokesperson said.

No one was injured and the man has now been detained and arrested by British Transport Police officers.
British Transport Police are leading and are working to reopen the station.

The station remains closed to passengers.
