IF YOU’RE LOOKING for a home that’s connected to history but doesn’t require a full renovation, then check out Coach, a new development of brand-new homes in Co Meath.
The name is inspired by happenings in the mid 1800s when all travel was either by foot, horseback or horse-drawn coaches. As Ashbourne was on the main route for the mail coaches to Belfast, the village was the location for several of the horses to take a rest.
Now, houses have replaced horses and this development has been designed for more modern life – and it’s within walking distance of the town centre.
When complete, Coach will comprise 699 houses, apartments and duplexes across a large site, with more than 8.75 acres devoted to open space. Planned crèches, a medical centre and retail amenities will further enhance its appeal as a self-contained community. Construction is well under way, with more than 30% of residents already settled into their new homes.
A limited selection of four-bed houses are now available, while more three-bed homes are expected to go on the market this autumn. Designed with comfort and practicality in mind, the properties feature timber-frame construction, generous specs and smart, low-maintenance façades.
Private driveways accommodate up to two cars, while selected house types incorporate attic trusses designed to make future conversion more straightforward. Each home is also protected by a 10-year HomeBond structural guarantee.
Coach’s location is one of its greatest strengths. Ashbourne town centre is within walking distance, placing supermarkets, independent shops, restaurants, schools and healthcare services close at hand. The town is particularly well-equipped for families, with a wide choice of primary and secondary schools, including Gaelscoils and Educate Together options, as well as plenty of childcare facilities.
Leisure time is equally well catered for. Local clubs offer everything from GAA, rugby and football to cricket, tennis and golf, while the town also has a cinema and family entertainment facilities. Emerald Park and Fairyhouse Racecourse provide further attractions within easy reach.
With attractive homes, abundant green space and an established town on the doorstep, Coach offers an appealing balance of community, connectivity and room to grow.
Prices for homes at Coach, Ashbourne, Co Meath start from €500,000 and are on sale through Grimes.
