CHRISTMAS IS JUST around the corner, and no doubt you’re salivating at the thought of it.
From delicous food and treats, to presents, to even just having some time off work (finally), there’s loads to look forward to.
While some treats might be regretted in the cold light of January, something you’ll never regret is a movie marathon – and Christmas is the perfect time to indulge.
So, to help you out, we’ve rounded up a selection (box) of the best Christmas movies out there, to snuggle up in front of and enjoy.
1. Something soft-centred: It’s a Wonderful Life
Let’s start off with a real Christmas classic, shall we? You can’t do better than the wonderful tale of a man at the brink of despair who’s shown by his guardian angel how worse-off the world would have been without him.
It’s a tear-jerker, alright, so have the hankies ready.
2. Something with a little bit of dark chocolate - Home Alone
And speaking of Christmas classics, Home Alone just had to be included. Kevin (played by Macauley Culkin) is left alone over Christmas when his family head to Paris for the holidays and he has to defend his house from two robbers.
What could possibly go wrong?
3. Something milk-chocolate and classic – A Christmas Carol
If you fancy a classic like Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, then this animated version starring Jim Carrey (in four different parts, no less) and Gary Oldman is a funny and moving way to share this classic tale with the children.
4. Something with a little bit of everything - A Very Murray Christmas
This celebrity-filled extravaganza is a really fun all-singing, all-dancing affair. Starring Bill Murray, and just about every other celebrity around (George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, and Amy Poehler to name a few), it follows the tale of Bill trying to put on a Christmas special during a snowstorm in New York when no one turns up.
Spoiler alert – it all works out in the end.
5. Something fudgey - The Santa Clause
Tim Allen (Scott) accidentally kills Santa Clause on Christmas Eve and quickly finds himself recruited to take on the magical role. While his son Charlie is delighted with his dad’s new job, Scott has to keep it a secret from the rest of the world – but how can he explain the inexplicable weight gain and the massive white beard?
6. Something nutty - Scrooged
And for something completely different, why not try Scrooged? It’s the retelling of Dicken’s A Christmas Carol and Bill Murray plays a television executive who only cares about ratings. It’s hilarious, irreverent and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
