Man arrested as cyclist (40s) hospitalised following collision with car in Kerry

The incident happened shortly before 7.05am on the Oakpark Road in Tralee.

A CYCLIST HAS been seriously injured after a road collision in Co Kerry. 

The collision, involving a car and a bicycle, happened shortly before 7.05am on the Oakpark Road in Tralee. 

The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Since the collision, a man in his 30s has been arrested, and is currently detained at Tralee garda station.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and who were travelling on the Oakpark Road between 6.45am and 7.15am to make this footage available to them.

A garda spokesperson said that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
