Pictures: Bus collision causes disruption on Luas Red Line

Services on the Luas Red Line have since returned to normal.

UPDATED 11.30AM

THE DISRUPTION THAT occurred on the Luas Red Line in Dublin city centre earlier has now passed.

Services on the line have now been restored fully and are operating as normal.

Earlier a collision between two buses outside  Busaras bus terminal in central Dublin meant that the tram line was only operating between Saggart/Tallaght and Abbey Street in the city centre.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are on the scene of the collision.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

Photocall Ireland’s Sam Boal took these pictures on the scene earlier today:

Those buses were only launched by BE recently.

From googling up until the end of July there have been 28k registrations in dublin, as the bus has a reg of 20,000 its not rocket science to guess that the bus has not been on the road since january

Is it too soon to make a joke about the “more direct” written on one of the busses?

Another LUAS crash? Seems like a lot of bus/car drivers need to redo their driving test.

It wasn’t a luas crash. One bus hit another and the luas couldn’t run past.

I was chatting with one of the drivers on the belfast route a couple of months ago and he told me the lads were all brought into the yard to drive the new buses around a few cones to get used to them. He said it was a joke and there wasn’t a cone standing by the end of the session. These buses are longer, taller and heavier than the previous and the drivers have had no proper adjustment training.
