Do you delete old emails?

The UK’s National Drought Group has advised people to get rid of old emails and photos.

THE UK GOVERNMENT urged people earlier this week to make “simple, everyday choices” to reduce their water use, as five areas in England have officially reached drought status.

What could a simple, everyday measure be, you ask? Clearing out your email inbox, according to the government and the National Drought Group.

Along with deleting old photographs, the group says this could help ease demand on data centres – which use large amounts of water to cool their systems while storing information.

Helen Wakeham, chair of the National Drought Group, said that even small actions like clearing out piled-up emails can contribute to a “collective effort to reduce demand”.

So, we want to know: Do you delete old emails?

Poll Results:

Regularly – I love a clear inbox (3581)
Sometimes – if the emails have really built up (2523)
Never – I might need that Happy Christmas email from my bank in 2009 one day (1684)
Rarely – it's not on my to-do list (1483)
