Do you think of August as part of summer or autumn?

Different calendars put it in different seasons.

THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS are coming to an end as schools start to open back up.

Going by the meteorological calendar, we’re still in summer until 1 September – but if you go by Ireland’s traditional interpretation of the seasons, autumn began back at the start of August.

Or you could be really holding onto summer and clinging to the astronomical calendar, which would put the end of summer and start of autumn on the autumnal equinox in late September.

(Met Éireann has a breakdown of the different calendars on its website.)

What do you think? Do you think of August as a summer month, or does it belong in the autumn family?
