TUCKED AWAY OFF Harbour Road in Skerries, Co Dublin, Dorn Hall is a property unlike any other.
The Georgian residence sits on over half an acre of private grounds, allowing for uninterrupted views of Skerries South Beach, Skerries Island and beyond. To the rear of the property, there are views of the harbour.
The main garden is to the front of the house and benefits from total privacy thanks to a cut stone wall and numerous mature trees, shrubs and plants. There are numerous patio areas for dining al fresco, but the most impressive element of the gardens is the cut stone stairway which leads to a raised garden area.
It would be difficult to find a better place to sit and enjoy views of the coast – although you can take a quick trip to the beach itself, if you wish, via private pedestrian access.
To the rear of the property, there’s a courtyard area with vehicular access to Harbour Road, as well as ample off-street parking, a workshop and a store.
Stepping inside, Dorn Hall is rich in period charm, with marble fireplaces, ornate cornicing and printed wallpaper featuring throughout.
There are three reception rooms at this level; a drawing room, a dining room and a sitting room, with tranquil sea views from two of the three.
There’s also a separate study room, which is sure to make working from home a treat. There are stained glass windows and views of South Beach on one side, and of the harbour on the other. The parquet floor is spectacular, with the points of a compass inlaid in the centre.
The kitchen, breakfast area and living room are located beside each other, with steps from the breakfast area to the courtyard.
There are two bedrooms to the rear of the property and one to the front, with features in the master bedroom including wood shutters, sea views, built-in wardrobes and an en suite bathroom.
For those who are looking for a project to undertake, the potential for three self-contained units at Dorn Hall is sure to do the trick. One is in excellent condition, one requires some modernisation and the last unit is in its original condition and needs complete refurbishment. Each unit has its own individual access, allowing guests or visitors to come and go as they please.
With private access to the beach, the harbour just a three-minute walk away and views that many could only dream of, hopeful buyers won’t want to miss the boat when it comes to the sale of Dorn Hall.
