Were you one of 4,400 people overcharged at Dublin Airport carpark this year? You are due a refund

The DAA said that the vast majority of customers were overcharged for parking by less than €12 but it is refunding the full amount of the booking.

DUBLIN AIRPORT HAS apologised and said that it is contacting thousands of customers who were all overcharged for parking during ‘flash sales’ earlier this year.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) confirmed in a statement today that it will be refunding a total of €350,000 to around 4,400 customers who parked at the airport Dublin Airport in March and May 2025 during promotional parking campaigns.

The issue came to light after a number of customers complained to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

One customer told the watchdog that the day before the 9 March sale, the price for 10 days’ parking was €83. However, this rose to €110 for the same dates and duration in the sale. The consumer further informed the CCPC that when the sale ended, the price reverted to €83.

Dublin Airport said that during the two promotional campaigns – a ‘Holiday Blue Flash Sale’ in March and a ‘Long Term Car Parking Promotion’ in May – a pricing error occurred.

The flash sales advertised car parking at a promotional rate of €10 or €12 per day. However, in some cases, airport car parking was priced at a lower rate in advance of and after the promotion.

Consumers who bought promotional parking in these cases were charged more during the sales promotion.

In total, consumers were overcharged by just over €25,000 but the DAA says it is returning the full cost of the booking to the impacted customers. 

The overcharges ranged from €1 to €64, with 90% of those impacted being overcharged by less than €12, according to the DAA.

The maximum overpayment by a customer was €64.

The DAA informed the CCPC that it had taken took responsibility for the error.

“We identified the cause of the error and took immediate steps to put things right,” the organisation said in a statement.

They added that emails will be issued to those customers who were impacted in the next 24 hours.

“We’re also issuing a full refund which will issue in the next 5 to 10 working days for the entire cost of their booking, along with an additional discount to use on their next car park booking with us,” the DAA said.
