6 new 172 cars that come with free road tax and insurance

On a strict budget? Take advantage of these registration-season offers.

IF YOU’RE ON a strict budget, sick of being quoted high premiums, or looking to keep new car costs down, now is a great time to buy.

Why? In an effort to get the new 172 registration period off to a flying start, manufacturers are trying to tempt buyers with all manner of sweeteners – including freebies.

Here are the companies offering free insurance or free road tax with the purchase of a shiny new motor…

Hyundai – one year’s free insurance

ULI_SONNTAG ULI_SONNTAG

Hyundai’s free insurance offer is available across its range of passenger cars. There are no age restrictions and you can remain with your current insurer, but the offer only applies to new cars booked by 30th June and registered by 31st July.

You’ll already have to already have insurance in place, as the dealer requires proof of your last insurance premium or your next one at renewal. Rather than simply arranging your cover, Hyundai will send you a cheque for either €700 or the amount of your premium, whichever of the two is lower. If your premium is below €700, you’ll also get a service voucher for the balance. More details here.

Nissan – one year’s free insurance

That’s provided you are over 26, have three years no-claims bonus in your own name and have fewer than three penalty points on your licence, amongst other things. If you’ve been struggling to find a premium within your budget, this offer could be a handy one. More details here.
