Funeral details announced for father, mother and son killed in Co Louth

Mark, Louise and Evan O’Connor’s funeral mass will take place on Tuesday.

THE FUNERAL DETAILS have been announced for a father, mother and their son who were murdered in Co Louth earlier this week.

The bodies of Mark O’Connor, 54, his wife Louise, 56, and their son Evan, 27, were found at the family’s home in Drumgowna, outside Tallanstown village, on Monday morning.

Another of Mark and Louise’s sons, Robert O’Connor, 31, of Drumgowna, appeared before a special sitting of Drogheda District Court charged with three counts of murder on Tuesday.

Mark has been described as a “cherished member of the local running club North East Runners Dundalk” who passionately worked for disability advocacy through his career.

The death notice said Louise was “known by all as kind” and spent many years working as a nurse while also volunteering in the community and being a valued member of the Ardee Local Vocals singing group.

Evan “was cherished by all who knew him in the community during his time at ABACAS School in Drogheda and the Praxis Hub Network in Drogheda,” the notice reads.

It states that at this time, “all family members are requesting that people be respectful of their privacy”.

Their funeral mass will take place in St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dundalk, Co Louth at 11am on Tuesday. Private cremations will follow.

Those who cannot attend the funeral mass can view it online on the parish’s online stream

The notice states that those attending the viewing and the funeral are requested to wear odd socks “in honour of one of Evan’s individualistic traits”.

It also states that in lieu of flowers, the family have requested that donations be made to The Hub Praxis Care in Drogheda and Drogheda ABACAS School, “reflecting Mark and Louise’s care and generosity to others and the inspiration to many that Evan had become in his short but full life”.
