Gadget Of The Week: A dash cam that detects suspicious movements
As well as sensing impacts.

THIS WEEK WE are checking out a gadget that records what’s going on around your car – whether it is in motion or sitting still.

What is it?

The K&F Concept HD Dash Cam (around €70) is an in-car hands-free video recorder that sticks onto the car windscreen with the supplied suction cup clip-on arm.

What does it do?

It records your car’s surroundings in high-definition and the video is stored on an SD storage card. The camera has a wide 170-degree diagonal angle view and a 2.7-inch display screen and a night vision function.

It has a built-in sensor that can detect an impact during recording, instantly triggering an Emergency Recording Mode which protects the video from being overwritten.

It also has a motion sensor, which detects movement and triggers the camera to begin recording automatically – meaning it can record when the car is stopped and you aren’t there to press the button.

Why would I want it?

Some motorists are using dash cams to protect themselves from insurance fraudsters. If you have an accident, dash cams may help show who was at fault. If you are worried about your car getting damaged when you park it – or if you just want the added peace of mind – a dash cam could be a good addition.

What do users say?
Reviews on Amazon are fairly positive with an average rating of 4.6 stars out of five. User Novac was impressed, writing:

This is truly a stunning car camcorder at a great price. It has a superb glass lens, which produces an excellent quality HD video recording.

And reviewer Mr Baz mostly agreed:

It’s a step up from the cheaper cameras with good quality footage, though a little less impressive at night it’s still in a different league to the cheapest models around.

You can buy the K&F Concept HD Dash Cam online on Amazon and Ebay.
