Nationwide fuel protest to cause major traffic on roads to Dublin this morning

Dublin Airport said passengers travelling for flights today should allow extra time for their journey.

MOTORISTS SHOULD EXPECT significant disruption to major roads today, as a protest over the price of fuel seeks to slow traffic.

The planned protest is to involve slow-moving convoys on main roads leading to Dublin.

Dublin Airport said passengers travelling for flights this morning should allow extra time for their journey.

Gardaí similarly warned road users to be prepared for increased traffic.

A garda statement said the protest will “take the form of slow-moving convoys of vehicles on the main arteries leading to Dublin and in the vicinity of large urban areas across the country”.

The convoys are to begin at around 8am.

They’re organised by local activists who are protesting the price of diesel, petrol and home heating oil caused by the ongoing war in the Middle East.

Assembly points are to disrupt the M1, N2, N3, N4, N7 and N11, RTÉ reports.

Parts of counties Louth, Meath, Kildare, Wicklow and Dublin will be affected.

In Cork, the South Ring Road, the M8, N25, N20 from Mallow, and the N71 between Clonakilty and Skibereen.

Limerick City, Portumna Bridge and Athlone will likely also feel the effects of the protest this morning.
