Mother Jones / YouTube

THE HUMAN COST of gun violence in the United States is borne mainly by the families of 33,00o Americans who die every year by the gun.

Almost 78,707 more people are injured.

But what about the financial cost?

After painstaking research, US magazine Mother Jones has calculated that the total cost of gun violence in the United States is $229 billion annually.

That’s even more than what obesity costs the country every year.
