Halloween party? We have a petrifying playlist for you

The devil has the best tunes.

ANYONE PLANNING A party this weekend?

If so, you’ll need a playlist to bring the freaky into Freak Out, the terror into your tunes. We’ve compiled a special playlist for you over on our TheJournal.ie Spotify account and it wasn’t too hard to find the scariest sounds – the devil has the best tunes after all.

As a starting point, we looked at the fear-themed classics being covered by a line-up of Irish artists at Turning Vampire Mixtape at Vicar Street next Sunday night, 29 October.

A few of those kick off our playlist:

  • Ghosttown – The Specials (to be covered by Paddy Casey)
  • Maneater – Hall and Oates (to be covered by Kier of Delorentos and Emily)
  • Don’t Fear the Reaper – Blue Oyster Cult (to be covered by Adam Matthews)
  • Pyramid Song – Radiohead (to be covered by Lisa Hannigan)
  • Thriller – Michael Jackson (to be covered by Niamh Farrell)
  • I Put A Spell On You – Screamin’ Jay Hawkins (to be covered by Saint Sister)

And some other monster-baiting music on our list includes:

  • Sympathy For The Devil – The Rolling Stones
  • Zombie – The Cranberries
  • Monster Mash – Bobby Pickett
  • Halloween theme – John Carpenter
  • Werewolf Bar Mitzvah – Jeff Richmond
  • Bat Out of Hell – Meat Loaf
  • Monster – The Automatic
  • Halloween – Misfits Meet The Nutley Brass
  • I Don’t Wanna Go Down To The Basement – Ramones
  • Surfin’ Dead – The Cramps
  • Red Right Hand – Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
  • Devil Inside – INXS
  • (Ghost) Riders in the Sky – Johnny Cash
  • Tubular Bells – Mike Oldfield
  • Somebody’s Watching Me – Rockwell
  • The Devil Went Down to Georgia – The Charlie Daniels Band
  • Spanish Train – Chris de Burgh
  • Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr
