Have you started wearing suncream yet?

The HSE has previously warned of the dangers of UV rays and their direct link to skin cancer.

IS IT SUMMER yet?

Well, it sure feels like it.

The temperatures have been rising and, according to Met Éireann, there will be moderate levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation this afternoon, which is between 3 and 5 on the UV index.

The HSE has previously warned of the strength of UV rays above a 3 and their direct link to skin cancer.

It urged parents to put suncream on their children from April until the end of summer in order to protect them.

Today we’re asking you: Have you started wearing suncream yet?

No suncream, but the speedos are on already. The local bakery isn’t the only one serving up some hot buns today.

If you’re going ṭo wear sunblock, you should wear it year round.

I’ve never put on suncream and never will. I’m outside as much as possible all year round. The best time to be out is first thing in the morning or late in the evening when the sun has its most benefits like helping to make vitamin D in the body or getting nitric oxide .
And just a personal belief is that the cause of cancer is carbohydrates and seed oils.

@peter kellegher: a number studies have found no link between seed oils and cancer, that’s just RFK style nonsense. Never heard carbs implicated in cancer before, what’s that based on? Or maybe you mean ultra processed carbs?

@peter kellegher: everybody has cancer, it’s when the immune system fails to see cancer cells as mutant cells, is when it becomes a problem. Certain chemicals and radiation increase risk of higher than normal cell mutations.

I wouldn’t be putting them chemicals on my skin. But if you have to, the reflective zinc particle ones are the safest.
