WHETHER YOU HAVE a gaggle of kids in your family, in-laws who visit and stay for long stretches, or a revolving door on your guest room with friends coming and going, five bedrooms is sometimes right at the top of your house search checklist.
Five bedrooms can be hard to come by in some urban areas without paying a steep price, but when you step out into the countryside, it can be easier to gain that square footage and stay within your budget.
This week, we found five bedroom homes in Cavan, Wexford, Cork and even Dublin, with a wide price range between them.
With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, this detached home in Ballyconnell includes a kitchen/living/dining area that is laid out in an open plan but with divisions between the spaces that will work well for a large family. Skylights in the living area bring in natural light, and double doors lead onto a large patio.
Outside, the property offers an expansive and impressive lawn, mature gardens with large trees, and over half an acre of land. Not far from Bawnboy Village and several fishing lakes, you’ll enjoy a country oasis with modern amenities at home.
Caldew Lodge in Ballymurn, Co Wexford, on the other hand, is a five bedroom, four bathroom detached home on over an acre of land. The property also has a large garage, and two outbuildings/stables, and offers views over the Blackstairs mountains.
Inside, there is a playroom/living room on the main level, with double doors leading into the kitchen. There is another lounge and utility room on the main floor as well. Upstairs, the master and another bedroom both have fitted wardrobes, and the family bathroom has a jacuzzi bath.
This five bedroom, three bathroom home in Glanmire mixes the convenience of being close to a major city with the peacefulness of suburban life. In a quiet cul de sac with only eight houses, you’ll have access to Glanmire’s highly rated schools, and you’re within easy driving distance of Cork city.
Inside, the home has hardwood floors throughout, except tile in the kitchen, which has an Aga Master Chef installed. The main reception room has double doors that lead to a balcony.
Finally, in Killiney in south county Dublin, you’ll find a five bedroom, four bathroom home with interesting and unusual architecture and lots of natural light. The home counts over 3,000 square feet, and sits on a third of an acre in one of the most sought-after areas south of Dublin city.
The home has been updated by the current owner to reach a B3 energy rating by installing a new boiler system and solar panels, and the home even comes with an electric car charging point. The interior is bright and open, with the master suite alone clocking in at over 500 square feet. There is a feature window in the kitchen and double doors that lead to the mature garden.
