GETTING TO GRIPS with a fast-changing property market is tricky, but we’re here to make things simpler.
Each week, we’ll handpick four homes within a similar budget, to give you a snapshot of the property landscape at a particular price point.
This week, we’re looking at properties in Co Wicklow with an asking price of exactly €550,000 – from a five-bed by Brittas Bay to a former hunting lodge.
Sitting on a site of 1.3 acres with gardens on the banks of the River Derry, Greenhall Lodge was built as a hunting lodge for Earl Fitzwilliam in the late 19th century. It comes to the market after being comprehensively restored to include modern features in recent years, while still maintaining the character of its Victorian heritage.
Stepping inside, Greenhall Lodge enjoys a charming interior of 1,998 sq ft, with four reception rooms, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Features include marble fireplaces, polished timber flooring and a winding staircase. Outside, the property’s picturesque grounds include a south-facing patio, mature trees and shrubs and a gazebo.
A five-bedroom property, Four Winds is an eco-conscious family home of 1,851 sq ft. It features solar panels and a brand new energy-efficient boiler – with benefits for both the planet and your wallet. The interior is bright and spacious, which is further amplified by double doors joining the living room to the kitchen/dining room.
There are three double bedrooms on the ground floor, while the remaining two enjoy views of Carrick Mountain and the surrounding countryside from the first floor. Outside, there’s a detached workshop of 1,076 sq ft, plus 1.06 acres of landscaped and mature gardens. Rathnew village is a 20-minute walk away.
Tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac, this four-bed home enjoys a tranquil location while still being within easy access of Newtownmountkennedy and the M11. The town, with a playground, primary school and multiple shops and amenities, is a 15-minute walk away, while the M11 can be reached in 10 minutes. To the side of the property, there’s a south-facing garden with manicured lawns and mature trees surrounding.
Inside, there are two reception rooms to the front, while the spacious kitchen and dining area enjoys access to the garden. There’s one double bedroom with an en suite bathroom on the ground floor, while the remaining three double bedrooms and their own en suite bathrooms are on the first floor. The master bedroom features a walk-in wardrobe.
Located in a gated development, 15 Cornagower Park is a five-bed bungalow with a sleek, modern interior. The yellow brick property sits on a site of one acre, including a floodlit private tennis court, while the beach at Brittas Bay is a 10-minute stroll away.
Inside, No 15 has a U-shaped layout with two light-filled reception rooms with limestone fireplaces and five double bedrooms. The kitchen features walnut and ivory gloss units with granite worktops, as well as stone flooring and integrated appliances, while glass doors open to the south-facing, private outdoor dining area.
