Name: Joanne Condon (@joannecondon)
Age: 36
Occupation: Furniture artist/DIYer
Where is your home located? Co Tipperary
What type of house is it? A self-build, completed almost ten years ago now
How many bedrooms and bathrooms? 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms
When did you move in? September 2010
Who lives there? Myself and my husband, Vinny
As it was a self-build we had a lot of freedom and we could design a home to suit our needs. We planned a space that would work with our lives the best, taking advice from the architect to make sure it all came together.
I love our open-plan kitchen, dining and living room area. Despite being an open space it has a cosy feel, and it works hard for us.
Tastes change, and I’m not a big fan of some of the floors we put down back in 2010. So I have plans to slowly change those up over time.
I think the bold colours are what makes our space stand out. I love having fun with colour and experimenting with different combinations. Although I love a crisp white, you won’t find any grey in our home.
We usually get up at 7am: A cup of coffee is essential first thing, and I’ll usually take a walk to clear the cobwebs. I work from home, so after breakfast I head straight into my studio to start the day. I love working from home, it’s my own space and my own schedule.
Work finishes for us around 6.30pm: Around that time, we have supper and switch off for the day. We are always in the living room in the evenings, watching a film, reading or DIYing something fun. We usually head to bed about 9.30pm or 10pm.
If I was starting again now, I’d modernise things a little. I’d do a Dermot Bannon on it, with large windows that fold back and let the outside in! I’d also have a large back garden and a smaller front one – right now we have the opposite.
