THE NEW HYUNDAI i30 range has grown in size and carrying capacity with the introduction of the i30 Tourer.

This estate version of the new hatchback adds increased load space and the ability to swallow up 602 litres with the rear seats in place and a whopping 1,650 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

It’s stylish too, not like the boxy-looking estate cars of old. The new model gets full-LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. Hyundai has also included generous levels of safety equipment as standard including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist System. Options include Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detector, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Speed Limit Information Function.

The i30 Tourer gets a similar engine lineup to the hatch, starting with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder T-GDi petrol that produces 120hp. A larger 1.4-litre four-cylinder T-GDi gets 140hp while the diesel engine is a 110hp 1.6-litre CRDi.

Once the new Hyundai i30 Tourer makes its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month it should arrive in Ireland shortly after and is sure to be a common sight in Swedish flat-pack furniture outlets.
