LAST UPDATE | 11 Jun
US CENTRAL COMMAND (CENTCOM) has confirmed that American forces carried out “additional self-defence strikes” against multiple targets in Iran at the direction of president Donald Trump, in response to what it described as “unwarranted and continued aggression”.
The strikes were launched at 10.15pm Irish time.
The statement came as Donald Trump said the United States would continue military action against Iran, warning: “We hit them hard yesterday. We’re going to hit them again hard today… we’re going to be attacking them – attacking them very hard.”
Trump accused Iranian negotiators of “playing us for suckers” and said Tehran had been delaying a deal that he claimed was already “fully negotiated”.
U.S. Central Command forces began launching additional self-defense strikes today at 5:15 p.m. ET against multiple targets in Iran at the Commander in Chief’s direction. The strikes are in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said further strikes would be “strong” and “clear”, suggesting US military action could continue into a second night.
Earlier, CENTCOM said US forces had “struck Iranian air defence, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz with precision munitions from US Air Force and Navy fighter jets”.
The latest escalation follows a series of exchanges after the downing of a US Apache helicopter, which Washington says was part of an Iranian attack. The two crew members were later rescued.
Trump said Iran had “taken too long” in negotiations and warned it would now “have to pay the price”, adding that he was losing patience with ongoing talks over a possible settlement.
US officials said Iran and US-aligned forces in the region exchanged fire earlier, with Iranian forces claiming strikes on targets in Jordan and Bahrain, while those states reported intercepting incoming missiles and drones.
Jordan’s military said it shot down five missiles, while Bahrain said it had intercepted “a number of Iranian aerial attacks”. Kuwait also reported its air defences engaging hostile targets.
The developments come amid a broader regional escalation involving Iran, Israel and allied forces, including continued Israeli strikes in Lebanon, where health authorities say more than 3,600 people have been killed since March.
Iran has warned that its armed forces will “leave no attack or threat unanswered”, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the US had “opted to test our determination”.
CENTCOM said it continues to monitor the situation and carry out operations “as directed” by the US president.
