Is this the first photo of Google's new smartphone?

LG has long been rumoured as one of Google’s partners for a new Nexus phone – and now there’s this image.

LG HAS LONG been rumoured to be one of Google’s partners to make a new Nexus smartphone. Now we finally have a photo of what the phone will probably look like.

It was first leaked to AndroidAndMe, and has since made the rounds through the Android fan community.

The phone looks a lot like the current Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but LG’s phone is said to ship with an update to the latest version of Android called Jelly Bean.

Aside from LG, there are also rumours that Sony, HTC, and Samsung will make Nexus phones this year, offering a bunch of choices in the online Google Play store, where Google now sells its devices.

Samsung may also be making a new high-end 10-inch tablet for Google with a screen that is said to have a higher resolution than the iPad.

Nexus devices are made by third-party manufacturers who work directly with Google. They run a clean version of the Android operating system, meaning there aren’t any modifications to the software.

Most Android phones are heavily modified with “skins” by the manufacturer or carrier.
