PSNI arrest two men in Derry over serious assault of man at a house in Donegal

The incident occurred on Monday morning in the town of Lifford.

TWO MEN HAVE been men have been arrested in Derry over the serious assault of a man in Donegal on Monday.

It relates to an incident that saw two men attacked at a house at around 10am in the town of Lifford.

One man in his 20s was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, for treatment of serious injuries following the incident. He remains in a critical condition.

An older man – who is aged in his 60s – was brought by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of less-serious injuries.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have been assisting gardaí with the investigation into the serious assault of the younger man, and announced overnight that two men were apprehended in Derry.

A PSNI spokesperson said the men are currently in police custody.

In a statement this morning, gardaí said they continue to appeal to the public for any information or witnesses.

Anyone with camera footage – including dash-cam – from the Coneyburrow Road in Lifford between 10 am and 11 am on Monday 20 January are urged to make this footage available to investigators.
