Man arrested in connection with fatal collision in Drogheda in August is released

The motorcyclist in his 40s sustained critical injuries in the collision with a van and was taken to hospital, where he died two days later.

A MAN ARRESTED in connection with an investigation into a fatal collision in Co Louth earlier this year has been released. 

The collision, involving a van and a motorcycle, happened at James Street in Drogheda shortly before 7.10am on 29 August.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. He was pronounced dead on 31 August.

Gardaí earlier said they had arrested a man, aged in his 20s, in connection with the investigation under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The man has since been released. A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A garda spokesperson said that investigations into the fatal collision are ongoing.
