Man (20s) arrested in connection with fatal collision in Drogheda in August

The motorcyclist in his 40s sustained critical injuries in the collision with a van and was taken to hospital, where he died two days later.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with an investigation into a fatal collision in Co Louth earlier this year.  

The collision, involving a van and a motorcycle, happened at James Street in Drogheda shortly before 7.10am on 29 August.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. He was pronounced dead on 31 August.

The arrested man, who is aged in his 20s, is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a station in the Garda North Western Region.

A spokesperson said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
