Man (21) dies following assault in Dublin city centre

Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident on Grafton Street where a male was found in a serious condition at around 3am.

A 21-YEAR-OLD MAN has died following an assault on Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident on Grafton Street where a male was found in a serious condition at around 3am.

The man was taken to St James’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Pearse Street garda station.

A family liaison officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: “Anyone who was in the Grafton Street / Clarendon Street area in the early hours of Monday morning between 2am and 3.30am and who may have camera footage, including CCTV or dashcam, is asked to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí.”
