Man in his 40s arrested over fatal Cork city stabbing

The incident occurred on Monday evening.

A MAN IN his 40s has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Cork city earlier this week.

The arrest was made this morning in connection with the incident, which occurred in the Lower John Street, Knapp’s Square and Devonshire Street areas on Monday evening.

The suspect is currently being detained at a garda station in Cork city.

The victim, a man in his 30s, is understood to have been stabbed at around 7.30pm before making his way back to an apartment at Camden Court on Carroll’s Quay.

Emergency services were called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An incident room has been established at Watercourse Road Garda Station, with a senior investigating officer leading the inquiry.

A Family Liaison Officer has also been assigned to support the man’s family.

“Investigations are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.
