Body recovered from water in Wicklow Harbour after man got into difficulty swimming

Investigations ongoing and a file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court, gardaí said.

THE BODY OF a man in his forties has been recovered by gardaí from the water at Wicklow Harbour in Wicklow Town. 

The retrieval followed a search for the missing swimmer who had got into difficulty earlier today.

The man’s body was recovered by the Garda Sub Aqua unit, who were assisted by the RNLI and Coast Guard this evening, a Garda spokesperson said. 

The body has since been removed from the scene to St Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown, where a post mortem will take place.

Investigations ongoing and a file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court, gardaí said.
