Man due in court after nearly €500k worth of cocaine seized in Limerick

The drugs were seized by gardaí across several sites in Limerick on Saturday.

A MAN IN his 20s is due in court this morning after gardaí seized almost €500,000 worth of suspected cocaine in Co Limerick over the weekend.

Gardaí confirmed today that the man, who was arrested on Saturday, has been charged and will appear before Limerick District Court today.

The arrest followed an operation in the village of Hospital, where gardaí stopped a van as part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs.

During a search of the vehicle, a concealed haul of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €493,920 was found.

Around €3,000 in cash and several electronic devices were also seized.

A follow-up search at a residence in Castletroy resulted in the further seizure of €2,075 and a small quantity of cannabis.

All drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
