Man in his 70s dies in house fire

The man’s body has been taken to Cork University Hospital.

A MAN IN his 70s has died in a house fire in Cork.

Gardaí in Blackrock are investigating after the fire broke out at a house in Silverdale Road.

The man was fatally injured. Gardaí were alerted to the incident at about 1.30pm today, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital and a post-mortem will be carried out.

The investigation is ongoing.

It is believed that the incident is not suspicious.
