Community shocked after man bleeds to death in Bank Holiday tragedy

Michael Rice is believed to have tripped and fallen through a glass door in the early hours of Monday morning.

TRIBUTES ARE TODAY being paid to a man who bled to death after falling through a glass door in the early hours of Monday morning.

Michael Rice (34) is believed to have tripped and fallen through a glass porch door shortly after arriving at a friend’s house in the Church View estate in Ballindangan Co Cork shortly after 5am.

It is understood the victim was out socialising with friends on the night.

Gardaí are describing the death as a ‘tragic accident’.

Local councillor Noel Mc Carthy today described how the community has been ‘sent into shock’ following the Bank Holiday tragedy.

“This is a terrible tragedy and the whole community has been sent into shock,” he said.

“I’d like to send my sympathies to the Rice family at this very difficult time.”

The victim’s brother Con last night paid tribute for the deceased man.

Last night on Facebook he described the “nightmare” facing his family.

“I just want to wake up and for it all to be a nightmare,” he said.
