Poll: Does the Minister for Health's weight matter?

James Reilly has had to face questions about his weight – but is it a personal matter? Or does it have any bearing on his job?

MINISTER FOR HEALTH James Reilly fended off questions about his weight yesterday saying that it is something that he has struggled with for some time.

A Sunday Independent article at the weekend criticised the Minister for being responsible for health and well-being while being “visibly overweight” – something previous incumbents in the role have also been criticised for.

However many people online have argued that the Minister’s weight has no bearing on his job, and that Ministers in other Departments aren’t expected to conform to such specific and personal guidelines.

So today we’re asking: Does the Minister for Health’s weight matter?

Poll Results:

No, it doesn't impact on how he does his job (4232)
Yes, a Minister for Health should have a healthy weight (2655)
I'm in two minds/undecided (1955)
