A 34-YEAR-OLD MAN has been charged with the theft of a car in Clones, Co Monaghan, in which a young girl was sitting in the back seat.
The incident happened on Saturday evening at about 6.30pm at the Diamond in the town.
The girl was later located “a distance away safe and well” according to gardaí.
The stolen car was later located some distance from Clones. It has been preserved pending a Garda technical examination.
The man himself was arrested and brought to Monaghan Garda Station. He appeared before a special sitting of Cavan District Court last night.
He has now been remanded in custody to appear at Harristown District Court next Friday, 5 August, charged with road traffic offences.
