#WRONG-WAY CRASH The police officers and five other males who died in wrong-way crash in England yesterday have been named. 

#WARTIME ELECTIONS Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said it would be too dangerous for Ukraine to hold an election while it fights Russia’s invasion, after a call by his former defence minister to organise a vote.

#CYCLONE Two people have died and around half a million people were left without electricity across Latvia and Lithuania after a powerful cyclone, bringing rain and strong winds, hit the region.

It was Ukraine’s National Flag Day today, with Ukrainians in Dublin celebrating and dressing in traditional dress. Monday marks the country’s Independence Day.

“While the war in Ukraine continues, these days carry an especially important meaning for us,” said Olena Uriivna.

Uriivna dressed in traditional dress today, including a handmade Tryzub headpiece, which she designed and made herself.

She decorated it with traditional Ukrainian symbols – sunflower, wheat and kalyna – representing Ukraine’s land, heritage, life and resilience.
